The Name
Panashe is a name from Zimbabwe, a land whose name has long been associated with the stone houses of old. In Shona, Panashe speaks of God's presence, of the place where He is, of dwelling near Him.
That meaning stands close to Zion in the Scriptures: "For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it." In Psalms, the dwelling of God is not only a place but a promise.
That promise comes to fullness in Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God with us. In Him, the name points beyond earth and stone to the living presence of the Lord among His people. Panashe is given here as a quiet sign of that nearness: The presence of God.
What it does
Each day, a passage is set before the reader from the Scriptures, quietly chosen in the browser according to the date. From there, the wider canon remains close at hand: chapter by chapter, book by book, with clean paths through the text and simple navigation for the way.
Reading preferences are kept gentle and spare. You may enlarge or soften the text, choose a fitting typeface, listen by audio, show or hide verse numbers, and remain in light or dark according to the hour. The site may also be saved to your device as a PWA for a more app-like reading experience. The design aims to withdraw so that the Word may stand forward.
Suggestions
If you find an error, perceive a better way, or wish to suggest a refinement, you may send it here quietly. The form asks neither your name nor your email address, and nothing is kept in your browser.
